Gold Diamond Cross Charm – Gloria
$32.95
Dangle charm in 14k gold-plated 925 sterling silver: a Latin cross paved with two rows of clear cubic zirconia with an open back, on a heart-ring bail for snake chain bracelets.
More designs:
- Almost no plated gold is exposed on the front, because two rows of stones cover nearly the whole face.
- Brighter stones than a closed setting would give, thanks to an opening drilled behind each one.
- It holds its own on a silver snake chain, where the heart bail adds a band of warm color.
- Anyone who dislikes heart motifs should pass, since the bail is built entirely from them.

Our Take
Once it is on the wrist the cross stops announcing itself: at 0.98 in (24.8 mm), the two rows of stones merge into a single glow inside a thin gold rim. In the hand, the bail turns out to be a ring of small puffed hearts, each one distinct under a thumb. Those hearts are also the high points that rub the bracelet, so they are where the gold will thin first.

Description
Cubic Zirconia Pavé in Gold, Next to the Diamond Version
This gold diamond cross charm borrows the look of diamond pavé, but every stone on it is cubic zirconia. Two rows of round clear stones run the full length of each arm, meeting in a block of four at the crossing, inside a thin polished rim of 14k gold plating over 925 sterling silver. The arms are straight and square-ended, a plain Latin cross with nothing added to its outline. It hangs from a short jump ring under a bail made of linked puffed hearts. Overall it measures 0.98 in (24.8 mm) tall with the bail and 0.39 in (10 mm) across.
Set next to real diamond pavé, the difference shows in the color of the light. Cubic zirconia throws more rainbow flashes, the effect jewelers call fire, while diamond returns a whiter sparkle. At wrist distance, the two read much the same. The gap widens with time. Diamond sits at 10 on the Mohs scale and cubic zirconia at about 8 to 8.5, so after years of daily contact with desks and counters the facet edges of CZ can soften and look slightly cloudy. That is the honest trade: the look of a paved cross at a small fraction of the cost, with stones that will not hold their crispness as long as diamonds would.
Where the heart bail meets the bracelet
- The opening measures 0.22 in (5.6 mm), roomy on a standard snake chain, so the charm slides freely between clips.
- Each puffed heart touches the chain at its highest point, which is where the 14k plating will thin first.
- The inner edge is scalloped rather than smooth, which you will feel if you spin the charm on the chain.
- Wipe the bail with a dry microfiber cloth after wear; skin oil left in the gaps between hearts dulls the shine.
This is the wrong piece for two kinds of buyer. Anyone who wants a man’s cross will find the hearts settle the question, and anyone who wants gold that never needs attention should look at solid gold, where wear never uncovers a different metal. For everyone else, size is the main thing to judge. Slightly under 1 in tall, it sits between larger beads without dominating them, and it works on a gold-toned bracelet as well as on the silver snake chain shown here.
FAQ
Are the stones real diamonds
No. Every stone is cubic zirconia, a synthetic crystal chosen to imitate diamond pavé at a fraction of the price. The word diamond in the name describes the look, not the material, and no part of this charm is diamond.
Gold plating on something this small will wear off quickly
It depends on where you look. The front is mostly stone, so very little plating is exposed there. The bail hearts rub the chain all day and will show silver first, at their tips, while the cross itself keeps its color much longer.
Can the back be engraved
No. The back is pierced with an opening behind every stone, so there is no flat panel left for a name or date. If engraving matters, a plain polished cross with a solid back is the better choice.
How big is it next to something familiar
Including the bail, it stands 0.98 in (24.8 mm) tall, just over the diameter of a US quarter. Across the arms it measures 0.39 in (10 mm), narrower than a dime, so it fits between larger beads without crowding.
